Irene Dobles is founder and Managing Director at ID Meetings Costa Rica. Since its beginning in 2006, she has been in charge of the planning, coordination, production and logistics of corporate meetings and events, conventions, grand openings, board meetings, social and government events, among others.

 

As part of her Tourism and Hospitality professional background, she carried out several management level positions within Marriott International, Inc. since the pre-opening of its first property in Costa Rica in 1996.  Back then, she worked as International Sales Manager, opening new markets, both corporate and leisure, for the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel through sales efforts within the local travel and corporate industries as well as with potential clients in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe.  

 

In the year 2000, she accepted the position of Executive Assistant to the Hotel's General Manager, taking care of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, especially those issues related to the government, business associations and commercial chambers, and with the company's headquarters in Washington D.C.  She was also in charge of coordinating the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for the hotel. Three years later, she moved back to Sales & Marketing, accepting the management GSA position for the Marriott International Sales Office, representing in Costa Rica all company's brands at that time:  JW Marriott Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, New World Hotels, Springhill Suites, TownePlace Suites, Ramada International Hotels.

 

In 2012-2013 she co-founded, developed and operated Hamburguesia, a gourmet burger bar and restaurant, which she later sold to her partners, and which is now a franchise. 

 

Irene had previously worked as Public Relations Manager for the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency CINDE, in 1994-1996. She was part of the country's diplomatic mission when she worked as Commercial and Tourism Attachè at the Costa Rican Embassy in Rome, Italy in 1993-1994, and her latest public office assignment was at the Costa Rica Tourism Board, where she worked as Advisor to the former Minister of Tourism in 2014-2015.  

 

In 2015, she earned her CMP credential, Certified Meeting Professional, granted by the Events Industry Council.  Irene is member of MPI, Meeting Professionals International, and was also part of MPI Latin American Advisory Council 2020-2021. She was member of the Board of Directors at the Costa Rica Convention Bureau 2016-2017 and at APROCON, the Costa Rican Association of Meeting Industry Entrepreneurs and Professional Congress Organizers.

Irene holds a BSc in Marketing and Business, and enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and reading.
